How I Got Started...

Over 30 years ago I became interested in doing genealogy work on my family lines. During that time I tried to understand what happens to family names after the 4th or 5th generations that I could keep track of easily.

I have been working ever since to develop an organizing system for myself that was easy to understand.
I have taken several genealogy classes over the years but nothing ever stayed with me until I learned how to use the Ahnentafel numbering system which even then I didn’t fully understand. That was in the late 80’s.

Back in 2005 while serving at the Family History Training Center in St. George, Utah I shared with a group of people how I kept track of my genealogy and that was the beginning of realizing how little was out there in teaching a hands on organizing system. I have developed a 3 phase system that is unique to any other system I am aware of.

My workbook is a 3 ring binder that includes how to organize your first 5 generations, how to continue on after the 5th generation and how to put together a Document box that works along the same principle that my binder does.

  2. Hello:

I am coming over from Nedra's blog. I love family history and can't wait to try out your system. I have become a follower and anxiously await to see how I can get the pages for the binder. Thanks for all the help.

  4. Sue: I am so happy about your blog! It will keep me motivated and moving forward. For anyone wondering about this system or Sue's ability to help you get organized, let me assure she is everything she says she is and more! She is too humble to tell you that she has come up with the most simple way of keeping track of your ancestors and all of those pieces of paper that seem to reproduce on their own in that box or pile you have kept in the closet because you didn't know what to do with it!! I know from personal experience, she will spend whatever time it takes to make sure you are successful at organizing your genealogy. She has been a God-send to me and my family and we have stayed friends because she is truly filled with charity. If you are like me and were afraid to even get started because of all the piles of stuff you already had, Sue will alleviate your fears and get you moving forward! I only wish I'd known her sooner!
